Sports for Kids
I remember back when I was younger, probibly around 10 or so. It could have been younger but it doesn’t really matter. My dad wanted me to learn how to play football and somehow or for some reason he went to the video rental store to get a video on it and I remember being either asked or made to watch it. Videos alone are not really an effective way to get the point across, or to express the full concepts behind the sport. Now that I am in a position at camp where I handle the program and the curriculum behind the classes (including sports like basketball, soccer, volleyball etc. ) I have to make sure that the materials given to our counselors has what they need to effectively teach the sport.
I found this awesome instructional guide for sports. The site has over 500 free videos teaching key skills in soccer, football, basketball and more. Also showing parents how to help their kids develop these skills and enjoy the game.
On that same note parents need to learn how to help their kids be good sports, the site has tips for that. Plus in addition the site is constantly being updated through their blog, featuring stories from athletes and coaches.
