Caught in the Mist
I just got done watching the trailer for The Mist by Stephen King and It really got me thinking about a time last year when I was on my solo backpacking trip in the rockies.
I started off early in the morning so that I could make it up and over the continental divide before any afternoon storms could roll in and threaten my trek all together. I made it up to the top around 9 in the morning and that is when I looked north and saw this happening.

Yep, thats clouds rolling over the tops of the mountains like it was water. Ok it is water but more accurately it was a fine mist. I then looked ahead of me and saw what I was fearing, clouds coming towards me and at this point in my trip I am the tallest thing besides rocks and small rodents.

It was freaky, it just came and surrounded me and I was worried about going forward, because the trail disapeared in front of me. I did make it to the top and over just fine and This is what it looked like once I reached the top.

Not exactly the glorious summit picture I had hoped for but at the same time the mist was very ominous, and a little scary.
Which brings me back to this whole newStephen King’s The Mist thats coming out soon. It’s genuinly freaky.
I think what makes it scary is that the mist, and storms are all something that we all have a history with, and are scared of. We feel helpless when it happens. The movie looks great, plus its being directed by the same dude that did the Shawshank Redemption, and the Green Mile.
It looks great, see the trailer for your self and see what happens when you get caught up in the mist.
