Boxing Day
No not that crazy holiday that everyone except us celebrates. Boxing day is going to be March 15th, 2008. Why is it boxing day then. Well because of the biggest fight in recent history is going down that day. Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez are scheduled to box it out on March 15, 2008 in Las Vegas (and on HBO pay-per-view) in a long-awaited rematch of their 2004 draw.
Back in 2004 Pacquiao knocked Marquez down three times in the first round, but Marquez survived and fought back effectively enough to earn a split draw. So this upcoming fight is going to be the biggest thing since all the other big hitters like Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera have gone into retirement.
To me there hasn’t been a bigger fight since Holifield vs Tyson back when I was working at another summer camp. I remember everyone putting in money so that the camp would let us order the event on pay per view. I remember that fight being over pretty fast but if you could have heard the noise coming from that staff lounge it was ridiculous. You could hear it clear across camp, good thing this was during staff training and there weren’t kids there yet.
Now clearly you can catch this upcoming fight on pay per view in the comfort of your own house, with friends and food. However the real action is going to take place in Vegas and wouldn’t it be awesome if I could go?! Who wants to get me Manny Paquiao tickets huh huh? I mean I like Vegas, I have never been to a real boxing match in person. I like Vegas….so whats the hold up? Ok fine get the tickets for your self just take me to Vegas with you.
